Who are the "un-insured" we keep hearing about.

So I've had a few people tell me that I need to start posting on my blog again. It's been about 10 months since I posted but surely you don't all think it's been 10 months since I have had an opinion about what's going in our country. (Maybe more like 10 minutes.)

This Health care thing has been the issue that has nearly put me over the edge. You may not care to read any of these blog entries but it offers some therapeutic relief for me to write it so feel free to read it if you want or delete it, either way it served a purpose for me. (I know, I'm a selfish capitalist pig.)

50,000,000 uninsured people in this country. Isn't that the number we hear continuously from all the politicians and talking heads in the media. Have you ever asked yourself this simple question who are these poor, helpless, victims of society. Are they all just laying around in bed with every kind of ailment from chicken-pox to leprosy? Perhaps they are all small children huddled underneath overpasses all around the country, coughing and oozing with treatable infections. Or, maybe you could watch this short video clip and find out just who these 50 million people really are that we're all being told that we should feel so incredibly bad for.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are those out there who genuinely need and want health insurance and cant' afford it. I am also very much in agreement that the current system needs to be fixed (I even have some ideas on how I think that could be done but that's a blog for another day.)

Hard Times or Huge Government?

Christmas dinner in the home of Earl Pauley near Smithland, Iowa. (Circa 1935)

Have you ever heard those “crazy” conspiracy theorists out there that say things like this;

“I think we should have small government because if you let the government get too big they could just come and take your house over and not even give you a choice”

What a bunch of nut jobs right? Like the federal government could ever just come and take over your house. People would riot in the streets. This could never REALLY happen!

I got news for you. Click Here to see the106 pages of the "Bailout Bill" from congress today stating exactly how they can and will do that to hundreds of thousands of Americans by the end of the day today. Pretty scary stuff. Now, for those of you who are saying well, that only applies to those people who got into sub-prime loans. That is not exactly true. One of the ways we got in to this mess was from companies like Countrywide taking a portfolio of loans and selling them as a package to Wall Street. For example. They may take two good solid “A” credit loans and package them together with three weaker “C” credit loans and sell all five of them to Wall Street as a package. This is what is referred to as a “mortgage backed security”. Now that they are a nice neat little package they cannot be separated back into five separate loans. So if you are so lucky to have your mortgage be part of one of these sweet little packages that is now being referred to as a “troubled asset” then guess what, the federal government will now be able to purchase that “troubled asset” and you have absolutely no say in the matter. (Makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside huh?)

Shame on every political leader since Jimmy Carter who ignored the warning signs of this disaster to preserve their own positions of power.
Shame on Bill Clinton for signing the law that incentivized all of these institutions to make bad loans under the pathetic disguise of “Equal Housing Opportunity”.
Shame on George Bush for sponsoring such a gigantic move towards big government!
Shame on every congressman and senator that votes for this bill.

I perfectly understand that the alternative could result in a total collapse of our financial system, the likes of which only today's senior citizens could begin to relate too. Has anyone other than me stopped and considered if that may be exactly what we need to purge our government and our society of such corrupt and entitlement based thinking? This is a country that endured a revolution from the British, a civil war, a great depression, two world wars and 9/11.

I for one put a whole lot more faith in the ability of my neighbor to rise to this challenge than I do in the politicians in Washington D.C. that seem to think that there is no problem on earth that they can't legislate their way out of. It's high time we swallow a big nasty dose of accoutability in this coutry and let it be a lesson to us of what happens when governments and people choose power over wisdom.

Hey look, it's everybody's Mom on T.V.

If you missed Gov. Palin's "Home Run" speech at the RNC on Wednesday, let not your heart be troubled. I have a good portion of it for you here. She is one of the first politicians that I've seen or heard in a long time where I actually thought to myself, wow she may actually be saying what she actually believes as opposed to having every word of the speech poll tested to see what people want to hear and what they don't want to hear. Yes, I know the speech was written for her and she used a teleprompter but that doesn't mean it wasn't written around her thoughts and feelings. I doubt she just flew into town, picked it up off of someones desk and headed for the podium. There was just something about the delivery that seemed very real and genuine to me. Maybe I'll be proven to be a fool but I actually believe her and I think she could do a great job. Now we just need to figure out how to flip the ticket upside down and put McCain in the V.P. slot and her on the top.

I Dare You...

I dare you to look past the funny costume and the vibrato delivery of this video and listen to the words. I dare you to post an anonymous comment at the bottom and tell me where and why you disagree with it.

A New Endangered Species

Conservatives kuh n-sur-vuh-tiv n: 1)A person who actually believes that people should be responsible and accountable for their own lives. 2)A person who is God fearing, family loving, law abiding, and uses their common sense first and their government last. 3)A person who is happy to say the pledge of allegiance, not afraid of hard work and proud of making a profit.

This species was once commonly found throughout North America. Some researchers believe that it was this species, along with the help of God, that was primarily responsible for creating the greatest and most prosperous society in the world which was commonly and proudly referred to as the USA. The population numbers of this once remarkable species began to decline significantly in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. This was primarily caused by an invasion of liberalism from South America also commonly referred to as “Amnesty” as well as an epidemic of socialism a.k.a “Big Government” that was introduced to the population in the late 1990’s from Europe. This epidemic of socialism eventually became so widespread that researchers now believe it even led to some cases where a sub-species called “Republicans” ultimately resorted to a strange form of cannibalism and began killing their own kind. Sadly, today only a few of these conservatives can be found in America. They usually exist is small pockets in some of the western and mid-western United States and can often be spotted near church houses, small parks and other “Family Friendly” environments. If you are lucky enough to encounter one of these few remaining conservatives approach them respectfully and do not under any circumstances attempt to give them any liberal or socialistic B.S. as many of the remaining population also belong to the N.R.A.

I better pull over... I think I'm going to PUKE!

So I am driving down the road today listening to the radio. Within the space of about 45 minutes I hear three different newscasts talking about how much "cheaper" gas has gotten over the past two weeks.

Are you kidding me! With all of the natural resources that are contained within the boarders of this country there is no reason in HELL we should be paying more than a $1.50/gl. for gasoline. You're dang right I'm serious! $1.50/gl. at the high end! If you do the math on how much we have, how much we export, all the wasteful spending on overkill "red tape" and then add on the cost that energy companies incur defending punitive damages from frivolous law suites (No, actually I'm not talking about just the Exxon Valdez spill). Put all of that back into the equation and $1.50/gl. would be more than enough to cover all of the legitimate costs and still leave plenty of "obscene" profit for both the company and the government.

These incompetent weasels in Washington allow the price of my gasoline to sky-rocket over 250% and now they want an "adda boy" and a pat on the back because the price has come down a measly 5%!
Mr. Politician, You must be kidding me? I'm trying to run a business, pay my mortgage and still feed my family all while paying $3.90/gl. which is still 245% more than I should be for gas, all because of your total inability to stand up against lobbyist money and do the right thing for the country. Now you have the nerve to look up at me like I'm going to give a nice little pat on the head for your worthless little 5% reduction that I'm not even sure can be attributed to you in the first place??? Why you, I otta....

GIT YOUR ASS UP THERE TO THAT CAPITOL BUILDING AND GET TO WORK BEFORE I KICK THE BAT SNOT OUT OF YOU!!!!

OPEC's New Gas Pump

When it comes to oil in the US, Democrats are the true "dipsticks"!

Okay Nancy Pelosi, the ball is in your court now. The only thing standing in the way of us having cheaper oil and lower gas prices by next weekend is you and your lame duck congress with its 9% approval rating. Bush finally pulled his head out and lifted his part of the moratorium. (Welcome to the party George. The American people have only been screaming for this for seven months now!) Anyone who doesn't understand how just the authorization of domestic drilling in ANWAR or the OCS will immediately drop the price of oil, that person does not have a clue how free markets work.

Check out this video! Maybe the next person we need to hall into congress for some ridiculous hearings is "Big Mother Nature".

"Okay children, come along now it's snack time..."

Okay is anyone else with me on this one? I am so freaking sick of these kind of ridiculous, pathetic, sesame street type of photo ops from our so called leaders. This one took place at the G-8 Summit in Japan last week. It's like they really do think that we are all just naive little children sitting in a circle with our legs crossed hoping they will glance in our direction and smile. Give me a break! And these are supposed to be the leaders of the 8 "Powerhouse" countries in the world. With the world wide issues we are facing today this is the type of "leadership" we get? "...Let's all go out in back and pretend to plant a tree so that all the little boys and girls will know that we are doing our part." (Oh yeah, then we'll all go get on our private 747 jets and fly back to our various parts of the world leaving behind a "carbon footprint" the size of the same country we just left.) You know darn well all the holes were dug previously and the trees placed in the hole and the dirt all placed neatly in a pile on a white cloth next to the hole before these idiots ever showed up.

Now some of you may be saying "ohhh, The Conservative One is just mad because they are planting trees and we all know that goes along with Global Warming." The truth is I would say this puppet show was equally ridiculous if they were all sticking their shovels in the ground and pretending to dig a new oil well. It's absurd and anyone with any common sense knows it. This is nothing more than total media pandering and I for one am sick of it. Give me something real you morons!

The Rest of the Story -Paul Revere-

We all know about the famous ride of Paul Revere. "The British are coming, The British are coming!" Listen to this awesome account of the circumstances that lead up to his famous ride. His important and famous ride was really the ending of the story not the beginning. Glenn Beck tells this story and when I started listening to it I couldn't stop listening until it was over. I was listening while I was driving in my truck and even though I had arrived at my destination I sat in the parking lot for about ten minutes until it was over. Hope you enjoy it like I did.

The Worst Voice Mail Ever!

This is why you should not give out your phone number to strangers.

(Click on the title to link to it.)

30 Years of the same Bull Crap story from our "say anything to get elected poloticians!"

Have we broken enough records yet? $143 per barrel, are you kidding me? Do they still sell pitch forks at the local Ace Hardware store? Enough talk already. If it was a big problem in 1977 then it is a gigantic problem now! I don't care where you get it, get us off of foreign energy right now or get the hell out of Washington so we can put someone there who will.

Are these guys are hell bent on picking a fight or what....

U.S. Navy Commander Warns Iran: Don't Try Closing Gulf Oil Passageway!

The U.S. Navy and its Gulf allies will not allow Iran to seal off the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the commander of U.S. naval forces in the Gulf said Wednesday.

The warning comes as Iran's oil minister vows that any attack on his country by the U.S. or Israel will provoke an unimaginably fierce response.

When will we celebrate our 100% Energy Independence Day?

Don't you think it is time that we made Energy Independece a reality in this country. This is the defining issue facing this generation. Will we rise to the challenge like the generations before us did with issues such as the development of the automobile or putting a man on the moon? Or will we play with stupid partisan polotics until we fall so far behind in the global race for energy that it becomes impossible for us to catch up? At that point, which is approaching fast, we will essentialy be in bondage to various other coutries for the single largest ingrediant that drives the ecconomic engine of the U.S.A. ENERGY! In all it's forms we need it now!

"...to the shores of Tripoli..."

This is a picture of the national monument that was made to honor those who gave their lives on the shores of Tripoli. The Battle of Derne in 1805, also known as Tripoli, was the first recorded land battle of the United States on foreign soil. The war of Tripoli was also the reason the U.S. Navy was created.

Sounds like a pretty significant part of our history right? So why have you probably not seen it? Because it is no longer in our nations capital. It was removed and sent to Annapolis Maryland because some Muslims felt it was offensive! How could this happen? Click on the title above to read an awesome article by Fred Thompson and you will see just how long we have been fighting the war on radical Islam. If you like pirate stories you'll really enjoy this one because it's true.

Historical Supreme Court ruling out today!

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices' first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.
The court's 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia's 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision went further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms laws intact.
The court had not conclusively interpreted the Second Amendment since its ratification in 1791. The amendment reads: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
If you would like to read the complete story including the actual ruling, I have linked to it in the left column.

How much difference does it really make what kind of car I drive?

Isn't it time we started talking about real solutions not just "feel good" ideas? How much difference does it really make what kind of car you drive, Hybrid or not? Lets put it into perspective. In the next 15 years China will significantly increase the amount of fossil fuel they consume. Just the increased amount of coal that China is expected to burn by the year 2020 will emit more c02 into the atmosphere than if 3 Billion Ford Expeditions were driven 15,000 miles a year until the year 2020! That is just from one country's increase in one source of energy! It would take Ford 15 thousand years just to sell that many of these giant SUV's. Yet all the democrats can do is tell me that I need to conserve a little more by changing my light bulbs and selling my Chevy Avalanche and buy a tiny little hybrid (probably made in China) instead.
If Australia is successful in their current campaign to force all citizens to use only fluorescent light bulbs and put regular incandescent light bulbs into total extinction in their country it will reduce the total global green house gas emissions by a whopping .003% Wow! now I feel like we're getting somewhere. Give me a break these aren't real solutions to the energy crisis. This is just environmentalist lobby money trying to advance their cause.

If the profits are obscene, is this considered porn?

It seems that we have added another three letter word to the list of "four letter words" that we are not supposed to say in public if we want to be generally accepted as civilized. That word is OIL. I apologize if you have young children viewing this blog that may have just read that word aloud. Lets take a moment and think about how and why this word has gone from one of the greatest discoveries known to men and a blessing from God to basically being blamed for the inevitable destruction of the planet and all of her humanity.

Obviously the single largest use for oil in the world today is to produce fuel. We'll come back another day to all of the reasons why oil is superior to any other resource we currently have for use as fuel. In the left column you will find a list of just a few other products that are made from petroleum, a.k.a. oil. Petroleum literally means "rock-oil" and it is used to make thousands of products that we use every day. I have listed some of them below. Now before you jump on the bandwagon and join the NO OIL, environmentalist crowd who is literally putting a strangle hold on our ability to produce more oil, consider this. No one including "Big Oil" is saying that we should not develop any alternative energy sources. In fact if you do a little investigating you will find that in many cases the majority of the money going into the research and development of these solar, wind, hydrogen and other renewable energy is coming from the Big Oil companies.

Even if it were somehow possible to switch to 100% renewable energy today and turn off the faucet of oil for fuel in America. What do you think is going to happen to the cost of these products listed below? You may be saying "well we'll just reduce it to 90% or 75% renewable energy for fuel". I have bad news for you, that is not how economies of scale work. The reason you can by diapers for 27 cents each is because there is already a massive worldwide consumption pipeline for petroleum because we use so much of it for fuel. The minute you remove that factor, the cost of all of these products will go through the roof or companies will just quit making them altogether. It is really simple, you cannot build one of these massive oil rigs, tow it out into the ocean, drill nearly five miles into the ocean floor, pump up the oil (assuming you find it), ship into the port and refine it into useable petroleum all because dad needs another roll of electrical tape. The numbers just don't work. Even though we all love many of these products we don't consume enough of them collectively to justify the enormous undertaking of getting the petroleum needed to make them.
